Diaper parties

You may have noticed by now that although there is a lot of good advice out there on how to care for your growing family, there are a lot of arbitrary and unnecessary rules as well. An example of this is the diaper party. There may be folks who say these are dads-only events or that it is against the rules to plan your own, but in the end - who doesn’t want a reason to gather with loved ones and have a good time celebrating an exciting arrival? Use your diaper party as a chance to celebrate the way you want, with who you want.

What is a diaper party?

Diaper parties are gatherings of friends and families who would like to celebrate their loved ones’ new addition. Similar to baby showers, there are usually games to play and snacks to eat, but the main difference is instead of a varied gift registry to choose from, guests are asked to bring diapers.

How many diapers are needed

Babies go through a lot of diapers. On average, a baby uses around 3000 diapers a year. In their first month, a baby will use eight to 12 diapers a day in their first month. As babies' needs change and bladders grow, various sizes will be needed. You will want a diaper with a snug fit that is also flexible enough for your little one to move around. Eco Pea Co. offers a variety of sizes, from Newborn to Training Diapers. Still not sure how many to buy? Take a look at our diaper subscription service.

What to look for in a diaper

In addition to a diaper that is absorbent and offers leak protection, look for a diaper that suits a baby’s sensitive skin. Look for diapers that are fragrance free, hypoallergenic, and dermatologist approved. Another feature to consider: A mindfully made, environmentally sustainable diaper is one with biodegradable ingredients, to prevent sitting in a landfill for hundreds of years.

Don’t forget the wipes!

Wipes are always needed, with a versatility that goes beyond the diaper change. Bundle those diapers up with some wipes - in preparation for some wonderful but messy years ahead.
